Frequently asked questions
What is BoardGameLand exactly?
BoardGameLand is a search engine for board game nights. We gather public board game nights and events in your area in one place, so you no longer have to dig through dozens of groups.
Where do the events come from?
Events come from public sources across the web that we scan and sync regularly, so you get the most complete overview possible. Every result links back to its original source.
Are the listings up to date?
We regularly synchronise our catalogue with our external sources. Events that can no longer be found there are removed automatically.
Is it free to use?
Yes, BoardGameLand is completely free. Some organisers ask for a small contribution on-site (e.g. for snacks or room costs) – when that's the case it's always mentioned in the event description.
Can I come on my own if I don't know anyone?
Absolutely. Most attendees show up alone. Board game nights are one of the most relaxed ways to meet new people – everyone there already shares the same hobby.
I'm a board game beginner – is that a problem?
Not at all. Many events are explicitly beginner-friendly. Check the event description, and don't hesitate to ask the organiser – they are usually happy to teach the rules.
What should I bring?
Usually just good vibes. Most organisers bring the games themselves. Sometimes the description mentions whether you should bring your own games or contribute something to eat or drink.
How many people show up to an event?
It varies a lot – from small groups of four to six people to larger events with 20 or more. Details like group size or registration are shown on the organiser's page, which we link to on every event.
An event is missing here. How can I get it listed?
We're happy to help! Please reach out to us via our contact form and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
